Oral Health Complications in Head and Neck Radiation for Cancer

Status: Currently recruiting subjects.

The purpose of this research study is to learn about oral health problems that may happen after radiation for head and neck cancer.
Understanding what happens after radiation may help dentists provide better dental care before and after radiation. This research could help future patients who have radiation therapy (RT) for head and neck cancer. It is also possible that no benefit will come from this study.

Oral Mucositis Study

Status: Currently recruiting subjects.

We are currently looking for patients who are about to start radiation or chemoradiation for head and neck cancer.
The Bluestone Center for Clinical Research is currently recruiting patients for a new clinical trial. This study will recruit patients who are about to start radiation or chemoradiation for head and neck cancer. The purpose of the study is to test an oral health regimen to manage oral mucositis.

Seeking volunteers to take part in a study exploring the causes of oral cancer and oral cancer painOral cancer presents a significant health problem. The 5-year survival rate for oral squamous cell carcinoma is 40% and is among the worst of all sites in the body. This survival rate has not improved over the past 40 years.
