Dr. Yi Ye, Assistant Professor in the department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Associate Director for Clinical Research Operations at the Bluestone Center for Clinical Research, was selected as one of three scholars in the NYU Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI KL2) program. This two-year program fosters the clinical and translational research careers of junior investigators. Through structured mentorship and training, the CTSI program also helps awardees submit competitive peer-reviewed funding applications.
Dr. Ye will receive both salary and research support from the CTSI to investigate Nerve Growth Factor (NGF). Her proposal entitled “From Bench to Bedside and Back: The NGF Story” will evaluate the role of NGF in oral cancer pain. For the project, she will also investigate whether NGF holds potential as a drug target in oral cancer pain treatment. Dr. Ye will conduct the project at the Bluestone Center for Clinical Research and the NYU Cancer Pain Laboratory. Her mentors are NYU College of Dentistry Professors Dr. Bradley Aouizerat and Dr. Donna Albertson.
